Q. What is an Internet Address?
A. Every piece of information on the Internet has it's own address.
Addresses defining the location of a computer connected to the
Internet or a file on a computer connected to the Internet.
Generaly there are several types of Internet addresses: URL,
e-mail, newsgroup.
URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) are the addresses used to
identify Internet sites (like Web sites for example). If you
know the URL , you can type in the URL in the "Address" box
in Microsoft Internet Explorer or the "Location" box in Netscape
Navigator and press ENTER.
Examples of URLs are:
http://www.cpol.com
ftp://ftp.cpol.com
E-mail addresses used when you want to send mail to somebody.
E-mail addresses look like this: support@cpol.com (person@computer)
Newsgroup addresses are the names of different newsgroups , for example:
alt.sports
comp.security.unix
